I feel obliged to point out that this blog post is roughly 2 years and 5 months old. People change, opinions evolve. In just a few years, vast technological landscapes can shift. And don't get me started on config files. Please consider this text in the context of its time.

You get vastly more aware of your own ageing when you listen to live music on YouTube from musicians roughly your own age and look at them changing over time. It’s somewhat like what the reviewer in the Hamburger Abendblatt wrote after a Peter Gabriel concert: “The star aged with his fans”1. It was the Hamburg concert of the Growing Up! tour in 2003. Even that is roughly 20 years ago now — feels not that far away. Damned. However seeing musicians of your own age with grey beards on stage today. Double-damned.

  1. Or vice versa — so long ago
