Filebench

One of the hidden gems of the Solaris Community is the Filebech filesystem microbenchmark. It´s a really nifty tool to benchmark your filesystem configuration. I use it for such purposes like testing some workloads under ZFS for quite a time. The usefulness of this tool reached the mainstream IT media: In Tip of the Trade: FileBench Serverwatch reports about this tool in a really positive way:

Solaris continues to deliver sophisticated diagnostic and testing utilities. It's latest tool is a significantly-overhauled FileBench. FileBench is a filesystem testing framework like no other. The comprehensive and customizable framework measures and compares file system performance on Solaris.
