Scarry, I was just looking for a DSR load balancing/failover service at work today. I did however find that our current firewall already had that built in, otherwise this maybe would have been an option
take a look at zeus, seems like a really competent SW loadbalancer, downloaded the virtualbox image just to give it a try and it seemed to have a competent set of features!
I know their products reasonably well, they deliver good products ...
But not everyone wants a full featured load balancing software. It for the people who just wants a simple device without further software. For the same people using similar features in Linux for example at the moment.
one big difference between zeus' offering and ILB is that ILB performs the actual packet forwarding in-kernel, and therefore avoids the dual crossing of the kernel-userland boundary that other, userland-only products have to perform *for every packet*.
btw: ILB's admin interface is abstracted into a library, so Zeus or whoever is interested could easily refactor their solution to benefit from ILB funcitonality.
L2 Persistenz oder L2 Balancing durch austausch der MACs mit identischen IP auf den Interfaces ?
question to all: to use ilb it's enough to update my 2009.06 to the 127 build? because i had a lot of troubles tryin to download the ilb source from src.opensolaris.org...
ILB bits will appear in build 128, so updating to 127 won't help you, I'm afraid.
Yesterday I updated to Dev Build 130. I don't find ilbadm command. I can see there is a man page for ilbadm but command is not there. Perhaps it would have missed ? I did find command on my all filesystems. couldn't find anywhere.
Hi,
we're just finishing a DNS LoadBalancer Appliance based on ILB. The preliminary results are very good. Instead of VRRP we wrote our own HA handling. CU, Martin Seeger |
