"What's new" says
ZFS-root installation with flash works. Install Guides still say it doesn't work. My test would NOT allow it. I believe this feature actually does not exist yet. Anyone know? I created a flar under ZFS and tried to install it with ZFS root. ./check validates the profile syntax (flash install with a ZFS root), but the actually miniroot logic rejects it
Hi Marc, long time no see. There is some info on restrictions here: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/flash/ The only one that looks like a possibility for your problem is the pool naming requirement.
I am just wondering if it's possible to get all the cool zfs features via smpatch update if you are running an older version of Solaris 10? Or is it necessary to do an upgrade?
@sebastian:
You would want the ZFS Genesis patch: 122640-05 (or 122641-06 for x86)
Sorry figured it out.
I was sure for ZFS "initial-install" you didn't have to have "partitioning explicit" in the profile but for ZFS-flash you do (miniroot doesn't parse your profile right without it) However, "check" succeeds either way. I'll call it "flaw" in miniroot (it should see you are doing ZFS-root, and not squawk if you are missing "partitioning explicit" in profile |
