The 787 disaster looks to me like management hybris. Using a new build process, on a new product, build with new material takes three risks at once.
If it works, you are the hero of the company, but if not ... . It has big similarities to the financial crisis. You must take some risks to outperfom the competition, but if it all goes wrong, you should be able to recover.
While whole and large I share your concern for the workers, wouldn't "family" sort of imply that unemployment would have LESS of an impact as there's still one breadwinner left? Or does your model assume that the other party already lost their job thanks to the economy?
Also, a textarea 11 wide? 4 realz??
In some regions of the US itīs a even tough to hold a certain standard of life for a family with two incomes. When one or both are away ... well then itīs even more problematic. And AFAIK the region around Seattle isnīt really a very cheap one ....
