Wow, where is this port coming from? I think I heard someone writing about having the intention of doing such a port, but nothing more.
I think this is brilliant, not only because of ARM based appliances, but because of the upcoming ARM based netbooks.
There is much space for improvement.
Solaris needs to learn how to scale down. ZFS is a major issue, but also things like SMF, which eats 25 MB of memory alone. Bringing the port to something like the ICYBOX or shivaplug would be great!
I´m not sure that it would be a good idea to remove SMF. Especially in embedded devices, a framework to keep the system in a usable state is really nice. The same holds true for the FMA.
