I really liked to fake Jim Zemlin comment

How does he manage to run OpenSolaris in production? I'd love to but the licence doesn't permit it
"2.0 LIMITED LICENSE
Sun grants You a non-exclusive and non-transferable license to internally reproduce and use Software solely for purpose of evaluation in a test environment. Software shall not be used in a production environment." I think "shall not be used" means smth like "You should not use it in prod."
Well ... many people use it in production environments ...
I think it's just a legal statement. SUN does not want to be sued for Software given away for free.
And as any other company, they want to have support contracts for only a limited number of versions, to avoid users and support personal getting confused. If you do your own maintenance anyway and do not want to buy support, go ahead, there is nothing that can stop you from using Solaris. |

Don gave an update to his article about mysql on Opensolaris. Now he published an update to his article with ZFS & MySQL/InnoDB Compression Update:Conclusion? Unless you care a great deal about eking out every last byte (using a RAM disk, for example)
