eLOM to iLOMThursday, August 14. 2008Comments

This is a real annoyance with Sun systems. There are too many different types of management interfaces with each one using their own setup procedures and commands.
This is the reason, why we get rid of eLOM in favour of iLOM for our 4x00 series and blade x86 systems.
I could talk about further (x)LOM directions, but thatīs NDA stuff at the moment.
Does this mean that 2X00 server will still have eloms?
Finally I can use the remote KVM on my Mac again
The eLOM KVM never worked
There is a new download for X4150, X4150 Tools and Drivers CD 2.0, which seems to contain ELOM- and ILOM-firmware.
Does this mean, I can choose between ILOM and ELOM?
I don't like eLom either, but eLom is still a lot better than Alom

From the great c0t0d0s0 blog comes the news that Sun is working on an amazing upgrade to eLOM based systems, like the Sun X4150 we are using. Soon I'll be able to upgrade them to a real Lights-out-manager solution: iLOM.iLOM...

Insgesamt e
