New in Opensolaris Build 120: RAID Z3 and latencytop

You wear two belts and suspender? Well … this addition to Solaris may give you some relief in regard of your data: RAID Z3. A RAID-Z with triple parity information. As funny as such a configuration may appear at the first look, such an configuration can make sense for example for large wide-striped raid sets. The larger the RAID set, the larger the possibility that you loose more disk than your RAID-Z is able to cope with. Another interesting addition: Latency Top. Latency Top enables you to find out where latencies happen in your system.
