CIFS integration in Solaris

There is some additional media coverage about the OpenSolaris CIFS integration: Serverwarch reports about the CIFS integration in Sun Looks Beyond Samba . Even the New York Times reports about it, as cited at osnews.com. There are many people who thing “Why do we need CIFS in Solaris? We have Samba?”. I wouldn´t bring it to this point. I think, CIFS in Solaris and Samba can coexist: The creation of an AD substitution is not the target behind in-kernel CIFS. Thus a combination of the in-kernel CIFS as blazingly fast fileserver and Samba as a AD controller would be a excellent way to serve windows clients.
