Indiana

Looks like Sun did quite a nice job with the Opensolaris Developer Preview aka Indiana. Bill Beebe made a simple test with 3 actual Linux distributions and Indiana. He took two notebooks (one from 2006 and one from 2005) and tried to boot them to the graphical multiuser login. Only Opensuse was able to boot on both. Indiana and Ubuntu 7.10 booted on the 2005 notebook. Fedora 8 booted on none. A little bit surprising but nevertheless an nice result.

Why boot Indiana? Just to see what it would do. I was pleasantly surprised by it's ability to operate on my notebook and a bit shocked that a developer's release performed better than than Fedora 8.
