Trouble is, if IBM repeat it often enough then people will believe them. We need to be much more aggressive with our responses...
This is the reason why i try to counter this benchmarking tricks in my blog everytime i see this stuff ...
IBM is doing something stupid or lying:
Say that the worlds fastest CPU has 10.000 cores, but that each core is slow. Then IBM states "but one Power6 core is faster, ergo, the Power6 is a faster CPU". That is clearly stupid, or a lie. If one core is slow, it doesnt make the entire CPU slow. You can not compare core vs core, because SUN doesnt sell one core at a time. You can not buy 3 cores from SUN. You must buy a Niagara chip with 8 cores. Therefore you must compare a SUN CPU vs IBM CPU. And in that case, IBM looses every time. |
