Are you a bluepill or a redpill?

<joke>One of my readers pointed his finger to a really nice analogy: Are you a redpill or a bluepill. For the uninitiated: That is a scene from Matrix. Neo can choice take the blue pills to stay in the matrix, believing what he wants, or he can take the red pill to be free and to see the truth. Given that the Oracle logo is red and the IBM logo is blue, this gives a nice analogy.
You can take the blue pill. It's the way of the matrix, it's protected by agents from IBM Global Services, hiding you from the complexity of the reality, but sucking all your energy in the form of you IT budget from you. An agent can overwrite any of your coworkers. It downloads on the chair next to you, your colleagues are gone. They call this "Outsourcing"
On the other side: You can take the red pill. It's the reality, sometimes problematic, sometimes pleasant. But you are free. You have your own will, you are not just in this world to feed the owners of matrix. And we show you how deeps the rabbit hole goes.
You have to decide: Do you take the blue pill or the red pill. Remember, all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.</joke>

If taking the red pill means ending up with your kind of freedom of choice I'll happily continue drinking coffee as a drug and not taking pills at all. Healthy minds don't need any kind of pills - also, out of a habit, we also like to call that "free" 
Langsam nimmt das Marketing seltsame Züge an. Früher versuchte man hier noch mit Sachargumenten sich in positivem Licht darzustellen. Das Wortspiel mit blue/red pill taugt dafür aber nicht.
Die guten Oracle/Sun- und die bösen IBM-Jungs... Erstens mal gibt es daneben noch andere am Markt und zweitens habe ich noch keinen Laden gesehen, der neben Licht- nicht auch Schattenseiten hätte. Drittens war Oracle doch noch bis vor kurzem Böse, oder?
Outsourcing fällt auch nicht vom Himmel. Wenn "die Entscheider" im Unternehmen pro Outsourcing stimmen wieso ist dann der Outsourcing-Dienstleister der Buhmann?
Die Realität ist nun mal komplexer als die Matrix oder der aktuelle Wahlkampf. Mit ein paar markigen Sprüchen lässt sich dies aber schwer beschreiben.

A speech of 7:32 "explained" as "BO wants you in the Matrix...." either by people not thinking for themselves or with a hidden agenda...
My reaction was just a hint that the maxim "nobody got fired for buying IBM" should never mean 'not looking to alternatives with an open mind.' (*) It was not an attempt to push anyone to consumption of medication. And speaking of which, I now refer you to the link above to meditate a bit about the (lack of?) relation between the text and what President Obama actually said in that video : we all seem to read stuff into things that we read that are not there/not meant as such.
