You know that Oracle uses JAVA for or in many of its products?
Hmmm,
I think there is one thing missing: ----- Oracle will charge twice as much as Sun does right now ----- Just kidding But nice to read, let's hope its true.
Sure, but Oracle can say they "plan" to do whatever they want.
They still don't actually have to do it, and they can still lay off 30,000 other people who aren't working on those things.
1. Making such a statement in public and then do otherwise can be very problematic in the eyes of the SEC....

If I'm expected to take this ad seriously, I should probably be very concerned about the omissions - things that my employer relies on daily, or that we might consider relying on: Sun x86 hardware, SGE, Open Storage to name a few.
Why?
-SPARC and x86 Systems are using a lot of the same components (chassis, power-supplies, disks, fans etc.). Almost all that is developed for SPARC can be used for X86 systems and vice versa. This lowers costs for both platforms. -Why would Larry put all eggs in one basket (SPARC)? -Oracle already committed to push storage further. Oracle DBs produce a lot of data to be archived... |
