Let me think about your marketing and the discounts to buy your products. 60% off? I guess you dont have to laugh about others. ......Okay, when you want to read this marketing bullshit on yourself, you can look at it on IBMs webpage..... Same procedure on suns webpages.

You didn't got the point. There is an extra discount programm as far as i know for such migrations besides the normal discountss. So it looks like that the proposed Sun/oracle Merger doesn't lure customers to IBM as they want you make believe
![]() And by the way: Of course there is Marketing at Sun Webpages ... but not with such stupid things like the 20%/60% utilization stunt.
What is this IBM 3x factor for virtualization? Can you explain that? I never heard about it.
Regarding IBM FUD, yes it is bogus. For instance, IBM claimed that one z10 Mainframe could virtualize 1.500 x86 servers. But, consider that one z10 cpu is much much slower than a modern x86 cpu, and the z10 mainframe has 64 cpus - then the z10 Mainframe could at most virtualize like 10 Intel Nehalem-EX cpus. There is no way that a z10 Mainframe could virtualize 1.500 x86 servers. If you read IBMs claim further, it turns out that IBM assumes all x86 servers idle, and the z10 Mainframe is 100% loaded!!! It is like when MS claimed that Windows has lower TCO than Linux (Linux ran on a IBM Mainframe and Windows ran on a PC). How about this: My laptop with 16GB RAM, can virtualize 10 IBM Mainframes with the software emulator TurboHercules (all Mainframes must idle). True or FUD?
