Sun Glassfish Web Stack 1.5

The new version of the Sun GlassFish Web Stack (the stack formerly known as Sun Web Stack) is available for download as announced by the web tier blog at blogs.sun.com. You will find the following software versions in the version 1.5 of the Glassfish Web Stack:

Apache HTTP Server 2.2.11
GlassFish v2.1
lighttpd 1.4.21
memcached 1.2.5
mod_jk 1.2.27
mod_perl 2.0.2
MySQL 5.0.67 and 5.1
PHP 5.2.9
Python 2.6
Ruby 1.8.7
Squid 2.7.STABLE5
Tomcat 6.0.18

The stack is downloadable at the Sun Website. You find a Getting Started Guide at wikis.sun.com. You can run it on Solaris SPARC, Solaris x86 and RedHat EL 5U2. But the most shocking fact about the new Web stack is the Web Stack Enterprise Manager.A nice looking GUI with some really interesting capabilities to get some insight into your system:

Web Stack is a open source project within OpenSolaris.org (http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/webstack). This project delivers integrated open source web tier components within OpenSolaris . Now, the same folks within this project also back port this integration work for Solaris and RHEL 5.2.

To keep this runtime consistent across multiple platforms, version of different components within this integrated stack is left consistent.

Now OpenSolaris 2009.06 distribution came just before PHP 5.2.10 is announced. Hence, we could not integrate PHP 5.2.10.

Having said that, this integrated stack on Solaris10 and RHEL 5.2 does include important / critical bug fixes from apache 2.2.12 as well as from PHP 5.2.10.

I didn't find anything about the length of release cycles, so please excuse the question, is there a special reason for shipping PHP 5.2.9 and not 5.2.10?
I'll bet the answer is that it's been developed and tested for a bit longer than 2 months since 1.4 shipped with 2008.11 and 5.2.10 was only released mid-June, but you never know.
Still, eager to have a look
