Yes, virtualization is really just a security (and resource controls!) feature. But it's a damned useful one!
Of course, one then needs to consider HTTP 1.0 and TLS 1.0, which do no properly support virtualization (though recent versions, of course, do). In the end virtualization features like Solaris Zones, Virtual Box, XvM (and competitors, and UltraSPARC domains) are darned useful for consolidation, even if they can be thought of as "just" security features.
I fully agree, Desktop virtualization is a great thing. We work with Sun Ray's all day. But somebody should tell Sales, that Sun Rays exist.
Cause sometimes i have the impression nobody is believing in this great Product, isn't it great? You could do all your Work save a lot of Energy compared to a normal PC Workstation. Thin Clients are a great concept but nobody is pushing this concept. |
