Thank you but I guess I missed the point. We do not see ourselves as a competitor to NetApp and are using very different methods (ideas) to enter the market. Sun is of course trying to take on NetApp head on with a more similar model.
NetApp used a a different approach to NFS appliances when Sun still thought it was a good idea just to bundle a server with storage without making an appliance from it.
Albeit Sun, NetAPP and Nexenta have pretty different business models, they work in the same business. And the story remembers the one between Sun and NTAP. But now it´s custom build vs. general purpose, albeit with different approaches. In my humble opinion, you may not compete with NTAP, but you are part of a new perspective into the storage market, and this perspective is quite different to the one of NTAP. |
