That would be Ashlee Vance - he's perma-bitchy about everything Sun, it would seem...
Oh I thought SPARC64 is used only in SFC Servers and US in Sun machines. Is that the first Sun Server with SFC CPUs? Is that the end for Sun UltraSPARC CPUs in the IV+ categoriy (i.e. non Tx).
Well, we sell the SPARC Enterprise machines quite a while now. These systems are jointly developed by Sun and Fujitsu (not FSC ... FSC is just a distributor). We announced that system in April last year as far as i remember.
Yes, this is the end of the UltraSPARC IV+ line. We announced the EOL date for the V490-SF25K ranges already. |
