At first .. yeap ... but same problem with a Intel 1000/GT
I've had trouble with some of the nvidia on board nics, but no issue with my intel addons. Only trouble with those were when I had the wrong MAC.
I stop the smf instance of the dhcp server and run in.dhcpd -d by hand to see what the server is seeing. You may be getting in trouble if you've recycled the exact same JET profile with only the MAC changed to the new NIC.
All runs well until the GRUB tries to boot. The grub doesn´t recognize the NIC at all.
Very odd indeed.
Stock S10 U5? My trouble with the nvidia onboard had the booting happening ok, but the installer not running because the nvidia driver it was picking up didn't work correctly with the specific chip (tcp offload on a card that can't most likely). Along with in.dhcpd -d I've also run snoop to see if it tried to connect to the right host, but I'm assuming you don't even get that far. Dropping back to 10M realtek was what worked replacing the broken nvidia. Maybe you need to set some of the x86 specifics in your JET profile - possibly disabling ACPI or something like that.
I think it's a problem with the mainboard ... tried it under Virtualbox ... no problems ...
