While I wouldn't buy an Air because of its missing features, I certainly wouldn't buy an x300 neither. This "ultraportable" lost in the moment they first showed it in the envelope, which was much thicker than the envelope with the Air.
And yes, it lacks all the style and a good OS.
aren't the days over anyone rants about the shipped os? are you not able to install one by your self?
anyways, its black and its sexy! i always loved the look of thinkpads, even every one said they are ugly. i think you are jealous, cause you are forbidden to use anything from a company with 3 or less characters! to the air: internal battery, no ethernet, one usb port, no mic port, only 5 hours running on battery, no umts/3G - it sucks!
1. The problem is: No official MacOS for it ... You can´t go to a customer with a notebook with a hacked OS and talk about software licensing
2. Hey ... i use a Power Book Pro as i need such things like 1GBe and ExpressCards. But when i have to use it only for presentations or writing documents, a notebook can´t be small enough. You have to consider the intended market.
leaving out those features is bad design, thats all. im pretty sure they had a version with ethernet, more usb ports and 3g, one that wasn't any bigger.
many companys have a no wireless policy for good reasons such that bluetooth is already broken. i can intercept a bluetooth connection within a minute!
From my daily work: The last time i needed a DVD on my notebook was the some weeks ago. The last time when i connected more than two devices to my Mac was the time i´m worked with two USB harddisk in parallel to copy the data to the bigger one.
A long time ago the people whined about the missing floppy, today they whine about less USB ports. The Mac Book pro wasn´t designed for the geek with at least 5 usb devices , it was designed for the people who use their notebooks as a tool for communication and it´s perfect for this task. |
