Well then this is just a sign that T2 has a bottleneck somewhere in the core ... nothing to be proud of actually, though the bandwidth is still impressive

No ... itīs a sign that UltraSPARC T2 had vastly to much memory bandwidth because of the last minute switch from DDR to FB ...
The reason is simple: Pin count, thus making the packaging of the die and the routing on the board simpler.
As the prices for FBDIMMS dropped vastly at that time, using FBDIMM wasnīt a prohibitivly expensive option anymore. |
