Now if there was a way to do the same on a NFS server...
Imagine a NFS server based on ZFS, and an evil client trying to fill up the filesystem (something that can become very unhealthy for ZFS). How to identify the bad guy?
Concerning NFS, we have an opposite problem: logs and dumps are written to a fileserver. A script on the fileserver periodically cleans up the space.
Is there a simple and quick way to detect that a file is being written to? So far we have a script which remembers file sizes and comes back in a few seconds to see whether the file size has changed. But due to delays incurred this is a counter-productive solution if there's lots of files. |
