Isn't that IT? You look at what your competitors are doing, add some of your own spice, and dish it out.
Let's just use LDOMs as an example, where it took Sun much too long to add an IBM recipe to its own offering...
Surely, but i wouldn´t tout a caching nameservice as a key functional area ...
Regarding LDOMs: In my opinion, it took so long as you need CMT processors to do it right. When you have for example an UltraSPARC T1 you have 32 cores, thus 32 register sets. So you can do logical domaining without the huge overhead of other virtualisation technologies resulting to huge extend from the save/reload cycle of the register sets. |
