Sun Shared Shell

Sometimes, you find some features and services of Sun by mere chance: Sun Shared Shell. Sounds really cool. A collaborative shell. Really helpful when you need to support a system at a customer site. And even more interesting: This is really a shell to to work collectively on a system with multiple user level (execute, non-execute (you can´t submit a carriage return) and view-only), you can draw on the window and you have a chat to communicate). A really nifty tool.

Ich weiss, das man das eine kollaborative Shell auch mit screen -x machen kann ... ich verwende das selber häufiger.
Aber hast du dir das mal mit der shared-shell angeguckt? Da funktioniert selbst durch Proxies und zwei faschistoid konfigurierte Firewalls, du hast mehrere Rechtestufen und es ist wirklich ziemlich simpel auch für denjenigen zu initieren, auf dessen System gearbeitet werden soll.

Ich lasse mich in der Regel vom Kunden auf irgendeinem Jumphost draußen abholen, wo wir beide unsere Screens joinen. Dann kann er die Loginkette nach "innen" aufbauen und wir arbeiten zusammen auf einer Shell.
Der Vorteil ist, daß das nicht auf eine Shell oder ein bestimmtes Betriebssystem beschränkt ist, sondern überall und einfach so funktioniert.

Shared Shell erfordert (im Gegensatz zu screen) keinerlei Installation. Die gesamte Session incl. Chat und Filetransfer wird auf beiden Seiten und auf dem Rendezvous-Server mitprotokolliert und ist damit Audit-sicher. Einer Sitzung kann nur beitreten, wer einen sog. invitation key (9-stelliges Einmal-Passwort) bekommen hat.
