This does not actually surprise me. Back when I was working with the E10k having the machine half-filled was somehow a speed/price efficient solution if only one domain was needed. Adding systemboards and CPUs in one domain over 32 CPUs didn't scale linear as well. So
fully stuffed made only sense where you had more than one domain. Since the E10k is an SMP machine it can be pretty much compared with the T2000. Well, everything is quite a bit slower and needs far more power and space so:) But the scalingeffects seems to look quite the same.
The original article was a little bit misguiding ... there is no scaleability problem in T2000, the problem is in the Xeon plattform
