Über das Blog von Tamarah Rockwood habe ich diesen Artikel in der Time gefunden. In diesem Brief steckt wahrscheinlich mehr Wahrheit als in vielen anderen Veröffentlichungen dieser Tage zusammen.

Biggest Outrage — Practically anything said by talking heads on TV about the war in Iraq, not that I get to watch much TV. Their thoughts are consistently both grossly simplistic and politically slanted. Biggest Offender: Bill O'Reilly.

Warum mu eine "battelfield tour" unbedingt in die ruhigeren Teile von Fallujah führen? Wer Nervenkitzel bestellt, soll ihn doch auch haben dürfen?
Unbhängig davon, was die Bush Administration im Irak losgetreten hat, bedaure ich die armen Kiddies, welche mit windigen Versprechungen vom College abgeworben werden und als seelische Krüppel zurückkommen...

Nun, ich denke, wenn sie etwas heftigeren Teile nehmen und dabei ein VIP getoetet oder verletzt wird, werden die Soldaten vor Ort dafuer zur Verantwortung gezogen. Die Frage ob der Besuch an sich Sinn gemacht hat, stellt sich dann nicht mehr ...
Nun gut, wahrscheinlich haben sie selbst überhaupt kein Interesse ohne Not die heftigeren Gebiete zu befahren. Noch blöder als einen Touri ins Mienenfeld zu schicken wäre es, selbst mitzugehen.
Obwohl ein toter VIP wahrscheinlich endlich mal die Geisteshaltung der politischen Kaste in den USA zum Irak-Krieg korrigieren koennte ...
