Kris hat einen wirklich exzellenten Artikel über das Wesen des Internets geschrieben: . Sein Artikel kulminiert in der der sehr schön zugespitzte Aussage:

Das Wesen aller IT ist die Kopie.

Das mag und kann ich unterschreiben. Ich bezeichne das in Diskussion als "weiterverarbeitende Replikation". Tag für Tag replizieren wir Daten und erweitern diese. Dafür muss man nicht mal auf Blogs oder Twitter zeigen, schon der zitierende Reply auf eine Mail ist ein gutes Beispiel, weil dies selbst jene Menschen machen, die sich nicht mit dem Wesen der IT, dem Wesendes Internets beschäftigen.

So lange selbst diese Grundlagen nicht verstanden wird, können wir auch nicht erwarten, das zielführende Politik für diesen - zumindest in meiner Peer Group wesentlichen - Lebensbereich gemacht wird. Bei der momentanen Geisteshaltung in weiten Teilen der politischen Kaste würde es mich nur wenig wundern, wenn demnächst der Forward-Button in Mailclients verboten wird, weil damit Kinderpornographie oder Bombenbauanleitungen verbreitet werden können oder das Full Quote untersagt ist, weil das potentiell eine Urheberrechtsverletzung ist Irgendwann wird dann ein obligatorisched DRM für Mails eingeführt. Was aber vielleicht doch nicht so schlecht ist. Für eine mit besoffenem Kopf geschriebene Mail könnte man dann noch schnell die Lizenz zum Lesen zurückziehen

Und so wie es scheint, ist Kris auch an einem anderen Punkt mit mir einer Meinung ... wir haben ein weiteres Integrationsproblem:

A big weekly magazine from Hamburg wrote some time ago that Airbus is doomed, as they didn´t have an answer to the Boeing 787 until 2013. Some month later this stopped, as Boeing announced their first delay of the 787. It´s now 2009. The Olympic Games in Peking is almost a year in the past. Some airlines planned to use the 787 for their routes to the Olympic Games.

It´s 2009 and the aircraft flew a single mile so far. But they announced a time ago that the 30th of June 2009 would be the date of the first flight. Today Boeing announced, that there will be another delay. They didn´t even announced a new date.

We have smoking break at the moment - i´m in an meeting the whole day today. But this news is too interesting, it´s a bad news for Boeing: The 787 first flight was delayed for an undefined time because of problems with the fuselage. Yet another nail into the coffin of the confidence into delivery dates.

We should implement a new scheduling class in Solaris: The user-mood aware scheduler. There is already an scheduler in Solaris that increases the priority of a process by 10 when it´s in the focus on the GUI. But is this really a measure of importance. Let´s connect the the microphone of a computer with the scheduling! The harder you type on a keyboard, the louder you will hear the mechanics of the notebook. The harder you type on a keyboard, the more angry you are about the execution time of the keyboard. So let´s just connect the dots and increase the priority with the loudness of the keyboard Obviously future versions could check for words like "FSCKing slow machine" or "Faster, you son of an abacus" to increase the priority ....

My first thought after reading this article was: F*ck. You read from time to time, that some high level execs leave a company, but i think people like Alec are at least equally important to a company for their inspiration. So it's sad to hear that someone like him leaves Sun.

Okay ... i didn´t expected such a wide lead for Airbus. They were able to gather 127 orders in Le Bourget this year. Boeing was only able to yield 2 orders.

Nun hat das Parlament im Laufe der Woche beschlossen, das in Zukunft Netzsperren den Anschein eines Schutzes für Kinder ergeben sollen. Das schöne an der Demokratie ist ja, das solche Entscheidungen nicht in Stein gemeisselt sind. Man muss weiter daran arbeiten, das solche Entscheidungen zurückgenommen werden. Und auch sonst stehen noch einige Hindernisse im Weg bevor diese Entscheidung rechtskräftig wird: Der Bundesrat, das Bundesverfassungsgericht. Ich hoffe immer noch. Und ich werde weiter aufzeigen, das ich den eingeschlagenen Weg für einen Irrweg halte.

Und ich bin damit nicht alleine: Ich habe Bekannte und Freunde, die dem konservativen politischen Spektrum angehören, die Netzsperren für genauso unsinnig halten, wie jene Freunde, die noch weiter Links im politischen Spektrum sind wie ich. Aber sie haben alle etwas gemeinsam: Sie haben das Wesen, die Idee und die Technik des Internets verstanden.

Wir müssen dieses Verständnis weitertragen. Es funktioniert: Immerhin hat beispielsweise Lyssa (alias Katharina Borchert) ihren Vater auch davon überzeugen können, das Netzsperren ein Irrweg sind. Und so gab es in der CDU dann doch eine NEIN-Stimme, nämlich jene von Norbert Borchert.

Und am Ende gilt das, was Fettes Brot und Bela B. in Tanzverbot gesungen haben:

Wenn eine Regierung nicht mehr die Meinung des Volkes umsetzt oder einfach nur noch mit populistischen Nebelkerzen um sich wirft, dann ist es vielleicht Zeit das die Bürgerin und der Bürger das Recht als der eigentliche Souverän dieses Staates nutzt. Man kann jedes Land und jede Regierung ändern, Kreuz für Kreuz auf dem Wahlzettel.

Jeppe Toustrup submitted an interesting article to BigAdmin: Configuring the DHCP Server for the Solaris OS or OpenSolaris OS. By the way: The DHCP server is a good example of one basic idea of administration in many Sun products: Instead of directly editing a file you leave this task to an application provided by the service. For example you can do the same with the Sun Webserver with its wadm or dsconf with the Sun Directory Server. You don´t have to parse the files on your own.

Ich habe gestern die Nachricht erhalten, das sich für das LKSF-Tutorial auf dem Linuxtag keine Anmeldung vorliegt. Deswegen wird dieses entfallen.

PS: Sieht wohl so aus, als hätte es insgesamt extrem wenig Anmeldungen für die Tutorien auf dieser Veranstaltung gegeben.
